The Code of Conduct of the Residence Hall is for self-discipline and for the betterment of the individual student and the community environment of the Hall. The Code of Conduct is based upon Christian Values and is an extension of the Code of Conduct for St. Mary's Preparatory as a whole. All policies, rules, codes, etc. that adhere to St. Mary's Preparatory as a whole also apply to the Boarding Program.
Check-in / Check-out
All residents checking into the Residence Hall must report to the Residence Hall Office, where the resident and his guardian(s) will meet a member of the Residence Hall Staff. Any necessary forms will be completed at this time and the resident will be informed of his room assignment. The resident and his guardian(s) will then be escorted to the resident's assigned room where he and his guardian will complete the Room Inventory Form. After completing the form, the resident will then return it to the check-in area and will receive his key. The resident may then move his permitted personal belongings into his assigned room.
Upon moving off campus, residents must remove all their personal belongings from their assigned room, thoroughly clean the room, move all furniture back to its original arrangement, turn off all water faucets, shut off lights, close all windows, and draw the curtains. The resident then should sign out on the checkout list and wait in his room until the on-duty Residence Staff member arrives. The Staff member will then complete the checkout portion of the Room Inventory Form with the resident and collect his room key. An improper checkout, an unclean room, or damage may result in fines applied to the student's account.
Personalization of Rooms
Students are encouraged to personalize their rooms as permitted by St. Mary's Preparatory standards and policies. Students may rearrange the furniture in the room as long as there is a clear path from the window to the door, there are no fire or safety violations, and there is no potential property damage done to the Hall or furnishings. Residents may bunk their beds using the pegs available in the Residence Hall Office. Under no circumstances can Residence Hall furniture be removed from the room or taken apart. Offensive or vulgar materials that do not correspond with and uphold to Catholic-Christian Values will not be tolerated. Sticky tack, double sided tape, contact paper, and other adhesive materials that leave residue are not permitted. Tacks, nails, etc., that cause holes and other damages are not permitted. All furniture arrangements, room decorations, etc. are approved at the discretion of the Residence Staff.
Personal Belongings and Appliances
Residents are permitted to have one small dorm size refrigerator per room. Microwaves, open-air coils, toaster ovens, fryers, deep fryers, and all other heat producing devices are NOT permitted. Candles, incense burners, matches, lighters, and all other objects that produce heat and/or flames are NOT permitted. Hot pots may be stored in the Hall Office and checked in and out for use in a student's room.
