GUIDELINES FOR
HEALTH / MEDICAL / PHARMACEUTICAL DISPENSATION, etc.
Orchard Lake St. Mary's Preparatory and The Boarding Program is inspected annually and licensed to operate within State of Michigan Department of Education Guidelines with respect to its Office of Boarding Schools Compliance and Licensure.
The following provisions are in place and are to be followed precisely with respect to:
R 400.4160(a) (Routine & Emergency Dental/Med. Care)
R 400.4160(b) (Health Screening)
R 400.4160(c) (Health Records)
R 400.4160(d) (Storage of Medication)
R 400.4160(e/f) (Dispensing Medication and Personnel Authorized to do so)
R 400.4167 (Policy to Report Student Death)
R 400.4160(a) (Routine & Emergency Dental/Med. Care)
Resident Students and their parent(s)/legal guardian(s) at St. Mary's Preparatory are required to adhere to the following protocol when arranging or requesting non-emergency Dental, Optical or other Medical or Allied Health-related care during the school's regular academic calendar year.
This procedure will assure the proper compliance with State of Michigan Boarding School Standards , and assist with our efforts to provide a safe and healthy residential experience for our boarding student population.
Parent(s)/Guardian(s) of St. Mary's Boarding Students are to communicate in person or via phone call at least 24 hours prior to a scheduled appointment with BOTH the Dean of Resident Students (Mr. James Gonzales) AND the School Nurse (Mrs. Loretta Orzech) who will maintain written records/documentation of all health-related visits in the HEALTH LOG maintained by the Dean of Residents and School Nurse and kept secure in the School Nurse's Lockup at her office.
