Small stereos, at the discretion of the Dean of Residents, are permitted in the Residence Hall. (See below for tolerable volume settings.) Televisions, VCR's, DVD players, entertainment systems, and video games centers are NOT permitted in the residents' rooms. Seven-day boarders may keep a TV in a storage room during the week and may have access to their TV on weekends. Seniors that have proven that they can balance their studies and free time while maintaining good grades may have a TV in their rooms as a privilege. Fish tanks, aquariums, cages, etc. are not permitted in residents' rooms. Seniors may have one 10-gallon fish tank per room, containing only aquatic pets and approved at the discretion of the Dean of Residents.

Having a computer in the room is a privilege. Guardians must complete a Computer Usage Form explaining the terms, conditions, and limitations of their son's use of the computer. Guardians are responsible for blocking programs and devices that they do not want their son to use, DVD players, Internet access, etc. Computers are permitted and may be used after 2:45 PM until lights-out. Computers may be used during study hall only if they are needed to complete an assignment . The Boarding Program has ZERO tolerance for pornography and all other profanities. Violations may result in temporary or permanent loss of the computer privilege, Internet access, and possible confiscation at the discretion of the Dean of Residents. Violations will also be disclosed to the Headmaster.

All prohibited items will be confiscated.

Health and Safety Inspections
Residential rooms, furniture, etc. are the property of St. Mary's Preparatory – not the residents. Residents are expected to maintain neat and orderly rooms. A member of the Residence Staff will inspect rooms every morning before class. Rooms will be checked for general cleanliness, made beds, empty trashcans, bathrooms, etc. Offensive and vulgar materials that do not correspond with and uphold to Catholic-Christian Values will not be tolerated and will be immediately confiscated and disciplinary action will be taken. Every evening at lights-out, rooms will be checked to ensure that all residents are accounted for. Every Thursday evening, rooms will be thoroughly inspected for cleanliness in preparation for Friday's departure. Beds should be made, floors vacuumed, rooms straightened and orderly, bathrooms cleaned, etc. The St. Mary's Preparatory Administration reserves the right to inspect and search rooms at any time. Students are responsible for providing their own cleaning and toiletry supplies.

Signing-out and Signing-In
Guardians must complete an Off Campus Permission Form consenting to the terms and conditions that the Dean of Residents and/or a member of the Residence Staff can permit their son to leave campus. Residents may not depart campus without the permission of the Dean of Residents or an appointed member of the Residence Staff. Residents must inform the Dean or Staff Member where they are intending on going, who they are going with, how they are planning on leaving campus, when they are planning on returning, and how they can be reached. Residents must sign-out and sign-in upon leaving campus and immediately upon return. This procedure also includes leaving and returning campus over weekends and vacations.

Residents leaving for the weekend may do so between 2:45 PM and 6:00 PM on Fridays. Students returning from the weekend must return between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM on Sunday. Residents may not return to the Residence Hall after 11:00 PM on Sunday. If returning to the Hall is not possible on Sunday evening, arrangements must be made with the Dean of Residents to return early on Monday morning and to sign-in at the Residence Hall Office before the start of the school day. Residents unable to arrive before 9:00 PM on Sunday must have a guardian call the Residence Hall Office.

Automobiles
Having a vehicle on campus is a privilege and its use will be granted on an “access need basis.” A Vehicle Registration Form must be completed upon arrival to the dorms. Guardians must also complete Off Campus Permission Forms, which allows your son(s) to travel as a passenger in another car, or in their car with or without passengers. Those students with this privilege must ask the Dean of Residents if he may leave campus with the use of the vehicle. If there happens to be another student wanting to travel with the student who is using their vehicle for transportation, and it is okay for the driver to have passengers, then.
